Laufey made her name known after photographers got her name wrong at the 2026 Golden Globes red carpet.
The Icelandic-Chinese singer attended the recent award show held at the Beverly Hilton. She wore an orange Balenciaga gown, with her hair up in an elegant ponytail.
In a video shared by Deadline on X, the From the Start artist was seen posing on the Golden Globes red carpet when one photographer called her "Megan" as he asked her to look his way.

Laufey had a confused look and quickly responded, "My name isn't Megan." This drew laughter from some of the photographers and Laufey herself as she walked into the venue.
While it's unclear who the photographer mistook her for, some X users were wondering if it was Katseye's Megan, who's Chinese-American.
Later on, Laufey would poke fun at the moment. She captioned her Instagram post with photos from the event with "Megan" and orange heart emojis.
Meanwhile, Laufey is no stranger to Filipino fans. She held a two-night show with the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra in May 2024 and brought her "Bewitched: The Goddess Tour" to the country in September of the same year.
Laufey is a jazz musician who began as a finalist in the 2014 season of Iceland's Got Talent. She's known for her hits Valentine, Falling Behind, From the Start, and more. The 26-year-old singer won her first Grammy in February for Best Traditional Pop Vocal for her album Bewitched.
The 83rd Golden Globes recognized the best and brightest in film and TV, with Hamnet and One Battle After Another taking best films, KPop Demon Hunter's Golden winning best original song, and The Pitt and The Studio bagging best series.
