TWICE's Chaeyoung will no longer participate in group activities through the end of the year after being diagnosed with vasovagal syncope.

Her label, JYP Entertainment, announced that the K-pop idol will temporarily step back from her activities for the rest of the year to focus on her health.

"Based on additional evaluations, medical advice, and in-depth discussions, it has been concluded that Chaeyoung needs further time for recovery. As a result, she will temporarily pause her activities through the end of the year in order to prioritize her health and rest," the agency wrote in a statement, per a report by Soompi.

"In line with medical guidance placing her health as the highest priority, Chaeyoung will be participating in upcoming schedules only to a limited extent and may be absent from certain commitments," it added.

For this reason, she will not be joining TWICE's "This is For" shows in Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, and Bangkok.

According to Harvard Health, vasovagal syncope is a brief loss of consciousness when your nervous system overreacts and your blood pressure and heart rate drop suddenly due to certain triggers, like stress and fatigue, or exhaustion.

Its symptoms include fatigue, a sudden warm feeling, lightheadedness, nausea, and more, which are likely to occur 30 to 60 seconds before a vasovagal syncope episode.

Complications include brief disorientation, loss of bladder control, and twitching movements, among others.

"Chaeyoung herself feels deeply disappointed about this. She also expressed her sincere apologies once again for not being able to participate in fan events and THIS IS FOR World Tour since October," it added.

JYPE asked for the fans' understanding and support during this time, while also assuring that it will give full support to Chaeyoung's recovery.

Chaeyoung is a member of K-pop girl group TWICE, alongside Dahyun, Nayeon, Momo, Jihyo, Jeongyeon, Sana, Mina, and Tzuyu.

She recently made her solo debut with the album, LIL Fantasiy vol. 1.
