Aljur Abrenica is aware of the public's amused reactions to his pop covers that are trending on social media.
The actor has been posting videos of himself singing covers of hit songs, including Bamboo's Tatsulok, Maroon 5's Sugar and She Will Be Loved, and Firehouse's I Live My Life for You. He's accompanied by an acoustic guitarist.
Abrenica's videos have gone viral online, with his cover of She Will Be Loved getting 60,000 reactions on Facebook, 9,500 comments, and 6,600 shares.
Social media users have been quick to extend their unfiltered teasing about Abrenica's "emotional" singing.
"Bigla-bigla na lang kumakanta, wala naman nagrerequest," an Instagram user commented.
"Nasa spotify ba 'to? Sana wala," another one joked.
"OMG, when po unrelease?" a social media user said.
When asked for his reaction to the comments during his recent media launch as Luxus Estetica's brand ambassador, Abrenica laughed off the comments.
"Natatawa ako sa mga comment ng mga tao," he said, according to ABS-CBN News.
Unaffected by the light bashing, Abrenica is not stopping his singing any time soon.
"Kahit sintunado, kahit sino naman, pwede kumanta,” he said. “I really love music. It is very personal for me. Singing your heart out, iyon ‘yung pampakalma ko.”
