Gerald Anderson says he's not looking for new romance for now
Gerald Anderson is embracing the single life for now, months after he and Julia Barretto ended their relationship.
In an interview with entertainment reporter MJ Felipe, the actor was asked about the possibility of him dating someone new anytime soon.
"I don't think so. I think ang main focus right now is building sa professional career ko and building sa personal life," he said.
"I'm trying to absorb muna. And kapag naghahanap ka ng love life, hindi darating yan. Darating lang yan unexpectedly. Right now, I'm just focused on work. Nakikita niyo naman, iba 'yung drive ko ngayon," he added.
Gerald and Julia's breakup was confirmed by Star Magic in September, saying they “mutually decided to end their relationship.”
“We request the public to respect their decision and refrain from spreading false narratives,” their statement read.
“Gerald and Julia are grateful to their fans and friends for the love and support,” it added.
The two sparked dating rumors a few months after the release of their 2019 movie Between Maybes. The actor eventually confirmed their romance in an interview with Boy Abunda in March 2021.
Their relationship came to a point where Gerald shared that part of his five-year plan in life was marrying Julia, highlighting how “happy” and “at ease” he is with her.
In June 2024, he shared he was "close" to getting hitched and settling down. "Malapit-lapit na. Siyempre, 35 na po ako," he pointed out in an interview with Karen Davila.
Gerald and Julia fueled breakup speculations in June this year when eagle-eyed social media users noticed that they were no longer sharing couple photos online.
