NCT members Doyoung and Jungwoo have officially announced their plans to begin their mandatory military service in December.

Their agency, SM Entertainment, confirmed on Thursday that the two artists will begin their enlistment on Dec. 8, whith Doyoung enlisting as an active duty soldier, and Jungwoo as a member of the Army Band.

They added that since it will be a private occasion, there "will be no special events held on their enlistment day" and asked fans to refrain from visiting for safety reasons.

"We ask for your unwavering love and support so that Doyoung and Jungwoo can diligently carry out their military service and return in even better health," SM Entertainment ended.

Doyoung and Jungwoo will be the third and fourth NCT members to join the military service, after Taeyong in April 2024 and Jaehyun in November 2024.

The two are part of the sub-unit NCT 127. Other members include Taeyong, Jaehyun, Johnny, Yuta, Winwin, Mark, and Haechan.

After debuting in 2016, they rose to prominence with Cherry Bomb, which is now recognized as one of their signature songs. Their other hits include Kick It, Fact Check, 2 Baddies, and more.

Since 1957, South Korean able-bodied males between the ages of 18 to 28 have been required to enlist in the military for almost two years. By law, males will undergo medical examinations and other qualifications prior to enlistment to determine their units.

South Korea’s military service has a few exemptions, including athletes who won in international competitions and severe health issues, among others.
