Korean comedian Jung Se Hyup, known for his skits on People Looking for a Laugh and Gag Concert, passed away at 41.

Local outlets reported that Jung was with a friend when he suddenly experienced chest pain and difficulty breathing. He was rushed to the hospital but eventually passed away on Oct. 6.

"After arriving at the emergency room, he was talking to the doctor when he suddenly suffered cardiac arrest. Although the medical staff immediately administered CPR and other emergency treatment, he was ultimately unable to recover," an acquaintance told SBS News.

His funeral was held at Hanbaeksan Funeral Home in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province. The burial will take place at Hanbaeksan Memorial Park.

KBS' Gag Concert expressed its sympathies in a post.

"We express our deepest condolences at the heartbreaking news of comedian Jung Se Hyup's passing. May he rest in peace," it wrote.

Jung overcame his battle with leukemia in 2015 after undergoing a bone marrow transplant.

He debuted in 2008 as part of the SBS's 10th class of special comedians, and has joined variety shows like Gag Tonight and the SBS comedy program, People Looking for Laughter, where he is known for the dog character "Chow Chow."

After a long hiatus, he returned to comedy in April 2024 and joined the KBS show, Gag Concert.
