Piwee Polintan, vocalist of Jeremiah, passes away
Piwee Polintan, the vocalist of the Filipino band Jeremiah, has passed away.
The tragic news was disclosed by the band on their Facebook page on Oct. 28.
"It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Piwee Polintan, beloved vocalist of the band Jeremiah," they said.
Polintan was described as an "exceptional artist whose voice and passion touched the hearts of many."
"Beyond his music, he was a cherished friend, a loving soul, and a brother to us all. His legacy will live on through the songs and memories he shared with the world," they highlighted.
"We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who offered prayers, support, and love during his time of illness. Please continue to keep his family and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers. May his soul rest in eternal peace," they added.
While Polintan's cause of death was not immediately detailed, Jeremiah earlier gave a health update and stated that the singer had suffered a stroke on Oct. 23.
At the time, he had been "under close observation and receiving the best possible care."
In a later update on Oct. 27, the band shared that Polintan was "in serious condition and needs our prayers and support more than ever as he continues his battle toward recovery."
Details about his wake and funeral arrangements have yet to be announced.
Polintan served as the lead vocalist of Jeremiah. He and his bandmates rose to fame in the late 1990s and early 2000s after releasing hit songs such as Bakit Ka Iiyak?, Kahit Anong Mangyari, Oh Babe, and more.
