Miss Earth Philippines' Joy Barcoma is tickling everyone's funny bone. Here's why
Pageant queens need beauty and brains to stand out—Miss Earth Philippines 2025 Joy Barcoma is here to serve up memes and wit, too.
The 26-year-old pageant veteran from Bacoor City is set to represent the Philippines at the 25th edition of Miss Earth to be held at the Okada Manila in Parañaque City on Nov. 5.
As she gears up to compete against 82 other aspirants, Barcoma has been winning over the internet not just with her advocacy and elegance, but with her refreshing sense of humor.
From quirky videos to clever, meme-worthy posts, Barcoma is showing that she's not afraid to poke fun at herself if it means making others smile.
Unserious Miss Earth introduction video
Most beauty queens craft serious introduction videos, ones that show off their pageant-ready charm and opulence. But Barcoma went in a totally different direction as she appeared to make a parody video of the typical pageant intro, complete with exaggerated hobbies and more.
In it, Barcoma was described to sporty, but instead of palying volleyball or tennis, she was shown playing Chinese garter and jackstone.
The narration went to say that she loves cooking for her family before showing Barcoma cooking two hot dogs as her "specialty."
Fans also cackled when the beauty queen was seen typing nonsensical words on her laptop while working as a "government consultant and disaster resillience marketing specialist" and watching Raffy Tulfo in Action as a testament to her love for binge-watching documentaries.
"Laro ka mhie!" one user commented.
Another wrote, "Very Filipino coded!"
Interviewing herself
There's no doubt that Barcoma is a strong, independent woman—if you're not convinced, just watch her hilarious video where she conducts a full-on interview with herself.
In the mock newscast setup, Barcoma plays both roles: a poised anchor in an orange dress and a freshly crowned Miss Philippines Earth titleholder.
The skit features her sharing her advocacies as she answers her own pageant questions.
"Joy, people are curious. What really is your advocacy?" her news anchor self asked.
"My advocacy focuses on disaster resilience, recognizing that when we protect our communities from climate crisis and risks, we also address poverty and inequality. It's about empowering Filipinos to be prepared, adaptable, and resilient," Barcoma said.
She ended the interview by highlighting how she hopes to inspire every Filipino to become a steward of the environment.
"If each of us does our part, we can leave behind a thriving, resilient planet for generations to come," Barcoma stressed.
Amusing captions
Barcoma also has a knack for coming up with humorous captions that hits you right in the funny bone.
For instance, she shared a post from Miss Earth about how to vote for her for Best Appearance with the caption, "Ang hindi bumoto sakin, hindi magkakapera sa pasko."

In another post showing her arrival in Manila after a quick trip to Hong Kong in full Filipiniana and crown, she proudly declared: "The champion is return."

She also joked about her "flight" from Cavite to Manila, which is typically a couple of hours a way by car.
The Philippines has won the Miss Earth title four times: Karla Henry in 2008, Jamie Herrell in 2014, Angela Ong in 2015, and Karen Ibasco in 2017.
