'Ant-Man' star Evangeline Lilly reveals she has brain damage after suffering concussion

Published Jan 04, 2026 11:22 am

Ant-Man star Evangeline Lilly bared that she has brain damage following a concussion she suffered when she fell face-first into a boulder.

The actress shared a "concussion update" on Instagram. She first opened up about her traumatic brain injury (TBI) in May.

“I’m entering into this new year, the Year of the Horse, with some bad news about my concussion,” Lilly said in the video. "So I do have brain damage from the TBI and possibly other factors going on."

Despite this, the actress continued to say that she's focusing on recovery.

“Now my job is to get to the bottom of that with the doctors and then embark on the hard work of fixing it, which I don’t look forward to, because I feel like hard work is all I do. But that’s okay."

Lilly added that the incident helped her take things slow in 2025.

"I feel extraordinarily grateful and blessed to play one more day, one more year on this beautiful planet," she said.

On May 30, 2025, Lilly shared that she fainted at the beach and fell face-first into a boulder. She added that she experienced fainting spells since she was a little girl and was initially diagnosed with hypoglycemia without any tests, but as she got older, the condition was ruled out.

The Lost star has since been sharing health updates on Instagram and Substack.

A TBI happens when a hit to the head injures your brain, according to the Cleveland Clinic. It may affect your thinking, movement, emotions, and cause headaches, confusion, or memory loss.

Meanwhile, a concussion, a type of TBI, is a common head injury that occurs when the brain moves or twists inside the skull. Its symptoms include headaches, neck pain, balance problems, nausea and vomiting, double vision, sensitivity to light and sounds, and temporary loss of consciousness.
