The Pod Network is taking a different approach to bringing Filipino literature to life with Stories @ The Pod, an immersive audio series.

The project kicks off by adapting stories from Kwentoys, the upcoming book by renowned writer Budjette Tan, creator of the popular Netflix animated series Trese. Set for release this October, the book is a collection of eight tales about toys with magical abilities and sci-fi twists, blending Filipino folklore and childhood memories. Illustrations by his brother Brandie Tan accompany each story.

Co-produced by Hit Productions, Stories @ The Pod will feature audio drama adaptations voiced by Steve and Nyx of the true crime podcast Book of Bad Ideas. Episodes will also include conversations with Tan, hosted by Earl of the Philippine Campfire Stories podcast, diving into the stories’ themes and inspirations.

Tan said the stories are not simply retold, but reimagined. “These stories deserve to be heard—literally,” he added.

"I'm excited that Hit Productions’ collaboration with our partners at The Pod Network and author Budjette Tan has made it possible for his stories to reach new and wider audiences,” Hit Productions CEO Vic Icasas said.

Stories @ The Pod hopes to expand the world that Filipino authors are building through a new medium. "We at The Pod Network are thrilled to share this collaboration with such creative minds and talents in the literature, sound, and podcast spheres,” said Inna Salazar Acuña, head of content at The Pod Network.

The Pod Network is home to some of the Philippines’ top podcasts, like Tambalan by Nicole Hyala and Chris Tsuper, The Bare It All Podcast by Dani Barretto, and The KoolPals.
