Kevin Spacey claims to be homeless, waiting for Hollywood comeback
Award-winning actor Kevin Spacey claims he is homeless after losing his career and money in legal battles.
In a Nov. 19 interview with The Daily Telegraph, Spacey shared that he lost his Baltimore house in June 2024 due to "owing millions" in legal fees after dealing with his sexual assault cases.
“The costs over these last seven years have been astronomical. I’ve had very little coming in and everything going out,” he said.
“I’m living in hotels, I’m living in Airbnbs, I’m going where the work is. I literally have no home, that’s what I’m attempting to explain," he added.
In 2017, Spacey was accused of sexual assault by actor Anthony Rap, after the 26-year-old Spacey allegedly lay on top of him as a 14-year-old after a party in 1986.
Following other sexual abuse allegations, Netflix removed Spacey from the series House of Cards while his scenes in Ridley Scott's movie All the Money in the World were re-shot by a different actor.
In 2022 and 2023, Spacey was cleared of sexual charges, but has yet to be welcomed back in Hollywood.
On returning to acting, Spacey told The Telegraph: “We are in touch with some extremely powerful people who want to put me back to work. And that will happen [at] its right time. But I will also say what I think the industry seems to be waiting for is to be given permission — by someone who is in some position of enormous respect and authority.”
“So, my feeling is if Martin Scorsese or Quentin Tarantino call [my manager, Evan Lowenstein] tomorrow, it will be over, I will be incredibly honored and delighted when that level of talent picks up the phone," he added.
Hollywood actors such as Sharon Stone and Liam Neeson have expressed support for Spacey's comeback to the film industry.
The now 66-year-old Spacey began as a stage actor in the 1980s, before winning Best Supporting Actor and Best Actor awards at the Academy Awards for films The Usual Suspects (1995) and American Beauty (1999). He is also known for playing Frank Underwood in the 2013 Netflix political drama House of Cards.
