Influencer Iris Hsieh was found dead in her hotel bathtub at 31, sparking a murder investigation by police.

Local media outlet New Straits Times reported on Nov. 2 that the Taiwanese content creator died during a Malaysia trip.

Her manager confirmed her death, but said it was due to a heart attack that left her with "no chance for emergency treatment."

At the time, Hsieh manager disclosed that her family "may request further investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death."

Two days later, the NST reported that her case had been reclassified as murder after new evidence suggested foul play. Rapper Namewee (real name: Wee Meng Chee) has been named as a person of interest as he was reportedly in the same room at the time of her passing.

According to the media publication, city police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said authorities are now tracing the musician's whereabouts to see whether he had something to do with Hsieh's killing.

"Depending on the findings, we will decide whether he should be treated as a suspect," he said.

On Nov. 5, the NST reported that Namewee surrendered to authorities.

"I will fully assist the police in their investigations, and be accountable to the public and the family of the deceased," he wrote in an Instagram story earlier in the day.

The police chief said Hsieh was supposed to stay in Malaysia for four days.

"The investigation is complex, but we are determined to uncover the truth," he stressed.

A former nurse, Hsieh was known as the "Nurse Goddess" on social media, where she posted content on lifestyle and travel. She garnered over half a million followers on Instagram.
