Korean actor Cha Hyun-seung, who rose to fame as a dancer for Sunmi, revealed that he is currently undergoing treatment to manage his leukemia.

On his Instagram account, Hyun-seung posted pictures of himself hospitalized with his hair shaved for treatment. Despite his condition, he flashed a bright smile and peace sign for the camera.

"In early June, my life came to an abrupt halt as I was rushed to the emergency room," he wrote in his message.

"Until then, I had passed all final auditions for projects I'd dreamed of and was running toward my goals, but a diagnosis of leukemia brought everything to a stop," he continued.

Hyun-seung lamented how he initially "couldn’t accept it and couldn’t tell anyone."

"[Every day] was filled with fear and confusion. Now, with time, I finally feel ready to speak honestly. I'm currently undergoing treatment, fighting quietly day by day," he wrote.

While he acknowledged that the "road ahead is still long," he assured that he is "determined to overcome it."

"My dreams and passion are still alive, and I am holding, waiting for the day I can stand once again on stage and in front of the camera," Hyun-seung highlighted.

"To everyone who has supported me, knowingly or unknowingly, I offer my heartfelt gratitude. I will overcome this and return stronger and warmer than before. Today, I'm practicing hope," he ended.

In the comments section, many took the time to send words of encouragement, wishing him a speedy recovery.

"I'm sending you lots of strength and I'm confident you'll make it through this! Keep fighting!" one user wrote.

Another commented, "Yes please, never lose hope. You know that you’re worth the wait and we’ve got your back!"

Hyun-seung gained recognition as a dancer for Sunmi's debut single 24 Hours Are Not Enough in 2013 and for his appearance on the Netflix dating show Single's Inferno in 2021. He has also collaborated with the likes of Girls’ Generation, Taeyang, and BoA.

He later dipped his toes into acting and debuted in the web drama The Share House I Must Do. He is now currently starring in the series Punishment.
