Hidilyn Diaz is adding a new title to her name as she is now set to teach at the University of the Philippines' College of Human Kinetics.

On her social media accounts, the Olympic gold medalist shared the good news that she has now secured a teaching position at the university.

"Met with the members of the College Executive Board of UP-CHK as I prepare for my upcoming teaching engagement. It’s a new path, a level-up opportunity to become a lecturer at UP CHK!" she wrote.

Hidilyn said that she wanted to be a teacher because she wants to "keep learning."

"I hope my students will learn from me too."

While she did not specify what kind of course she'll specialize in, she said how "designing a curriculum to promote and spread weightlifting has always been a dream."

"I’m excited and nervous, but ready to give my best. I love weightlifting, and I’ll keep doing my best to grow and share the sport I love," Hidilyn said.

"Can’t wait to meet my future students and co-faculty members. Thank you, UP, for welcoming me and believing in what I can share. Excited to start this new journey," she added.

According to her, she will start her teaching role in January next year.

In the comments section, many took the time to congratulate Hidilyn on this new chapter in her life.

"That’s very good. Just do it and share what do you have. Congratulations and Godbless," one user wrote.

Another commented, "Ang saya! Swerte naman ng mga magiging students mo, Ms. Hidi."

Hidilyn first teased about her new role when she was invited to become a guest speaker at the recognition rites of UP-CHK in July.

"Masaya akong ibalita sa inyo, excited na ako sa posibilidad na magbahagi pa ako ng aking karanasan at mga natutunan at magturo dito sa inyong unibersidad," she said, earning her cheers from the audience.

"Sana matuloy 'to," she added.

The weighlifter had long expressed a desire to share her knowledge as an accomplished athlete with others, as shown when she established her own training camp in Rizal.

Hidilyn made history as the first Filipino athlete—and a woman at that—to win a gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics for the women’s 55 kg category.

Despite missing the chance to return to the Olympics in 2024 for the fifth time in a row, she emphasized that it's not the end of the road for her as an athlete.

"I will still lift, continue to lift, and inspire young Filipino athletes to become Olympic Champions," she said.

"Winning is not everything; it is being on the platform and taking on the challenges that give inspiration to other athletes," she continued. "I served and will continue to serve my purpose in weightlifting, as I inspire many athletes to dream high, take the challenge, and work hard to achieve their dreams and never give up."
