According to a report by Creepy Catalog, which Fuhrman shared in her post, the next installment of Orphan has officially begun filming and is currently titled Orphans.

While plot details have yet to be revealed, Orphan: First Kill director William Brent Bell previously told The Hollywood Reporter that the "franchise’s rulebook has been opened up to where anything is possible."

"I definitely think Orphan as a franchise has so many variations, and unlike other franchises, whether it’s a doll or a masked killer, she’s a real character on screen like Hannibal Lecter and she’s never going to age. So we really can do it, and we’re only going to get better at it," he said.

"And Isabelle loves it so much. So, as long as we get excited about the stories, there are so many directions to go, and we’re developing a third one now," he added.

The original Orphan film was released in 2009 and follows a married couple adopting a nine-year-old girl named Esther, who turns out to be a 33-year-old violent serial killer diagnosed with a hormonal disorder.

Orphan was green-lit for a prequel 13 years later in 2022, with the story centering on Esther as she travels to America after escaping a psychiatric facility and continues to impersonate the missing daughter of a wealthy family.

For the prequel, Fuhrman had to use practical effects to make it look like she was still a child. For instance, her co-stars had to wear giant platform shoes to make themselves look taller than her, per Entertainment Weekly.
