If you’re transiting through Taiwan, here’s how to instantly upgrade your layover with NT$600 (P1,137)—on the house.

Foreign travelers passing through Taoyuan International Airport can now claim a gift voucher to make their stopover more enjoyable.

This special perk is part of the “Enter Taiwan, Enjoy a Gift!” program, an initiative from the Taiwan Tourism Administration, Ministry of Transportation and Communications that encourages travelers "to explore the airport's unique shops and enjoy Taiwanese delicacies during their layovers."

The offer officially began on Nov. 1 and is scheduled to run through Oct. 31, 2026.

To join, you must first sign up on the campaign website.

Upon arrival at Taoyuan International Airport, they should present their passport and the boarding pass for their connecting international flight to collect the voucher at the Tourism Administration's Visitor Service Centers located in either Terminal 1 or Terminal 2.

You may redeem the vouchers daily between 7:30 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. The funds are valid at participating airport merchants—including restaurants, duty-free stores, and souvenir shops—with a complete list of all businesses available on the official campaign website.

You don't have to use them all up, as the vouchers are valid until Dec. 31, 2026.

According to Taiwan Tourism, Taoyuan International Airport sees a large number of transit passengers, with 131,982 transit passengers as of November 2025.

Apart from encouraging travelers to  experience Taiwan’s food, culture, and airport amenities, "the campaign also aims to stimulate business growth among airport merchants and foster the diversified development of Taiwan’s tourism economy."

This is just one of the many incentives Taiwan is offering for travelers. Previously, it extended its "Taiwan Lucky Land" draw, which gives tourists a shot at winning NTD 5,000, until Sept. 30.
