Manam sister restaurant hayop now part of Michelin Guide Singapore
Filipino restaurant hayop in Singapore has earned a spot in the MICHELIN Guide Singapore, putting Filipino flavors firmly on the city’s culinary map.
The restaurant, which is part of the Moment Group that owns Manam, earned a spot in the prestigious guide along with five other restaurants in the country.
MICHELIN stated that "new restaurants are added to the Singapore selection on the third Wednesday of every other month" and that fresh additions appear on the MICHELIN Guide Singapore website and mobile app.
"hayop serves modern Filipino cuisine in a wood-accented space with a subtle maritime theme, nodding to the country’s deep ties to the fishing industry. Its signature Wagyu and watermelon sinigang features a tangy broth and fall-off-the-bone braised beef short ribs—especially satisfying with steamed rice," the guide's description read.
"Guests can also pre-order the roast suckling pig 48 hours in advance; known as lechon de leche, it’s generous enough for several to share. Asian-inspired fruit-forward cocktails round out the experience," it added.
On their Instagram account, hayop took the time to celebrate the recognition.
"We opened hayop in Singapore with the hope of creating a space where Filipino food could speak for itself. Being included in The MICHELIN SG Guide tells us we’re on the right path. And as much as we are humbled by this recognition, the journey is far from over," it wrote.
"There are still more plates to fill, mouths to feed, and hearts to warm both here and in far-flung shores. Thank you for this recognition, MICHELIN Guide and for making room for our stories at the table."
Located along Amoy Street in Singapore, hayop offers Filipino dishes such as sisig tokwa, chicharon bulaklak, caramelized patis manok, adobong gulay, and more.
Other restaurants that were newly recognized were Belimbing, Ingleside, Les Ducs, Magpie, and Station by Kotuwa.
The Philippines’ first Michelin Guide was recently unveiled in an inaugural ceremony on Oct. 30. According to Michelin Guide International Director Gwendal Poullennec, there are over 100 restaurants that have made it into the prestigious list, selected by anonymous inspectors. This includes 74 Michelin Selected establishments, 25 Bib Gourmand restaurants, eight One Michelin Star honorees, and one Two Michelin Star recipient.
