Days after the Hong Kong fire, which killed around 128 people, the MAMA Awards received public concern regarding the staging of the event. The host, CJ ENM, responded by releasing a statement on Thursday, expressing condolences and committing HK$20 million (P150 million) to recovery aid.

The MAMAs cancelled the red carpet event but proceeded with a modified live broadcast. Artists were reportedly asked to maintain calm and solemn reactions, refrain from politically sensitive remarks, and show respect for Hong Kong citizens. The organizer also clarified that there would be no all-artist finale on either day and that wearing memorial ribbons was optional for the performers.

The CHAPTER 2 of the 2025 MAMA AWARDS will take place on Nov. 29 at 7:30 p.m. KST.
