American actor Macaulay Culkin revealed that he legally changed his name six years ago as a comedic stunt during his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

The Home Alone actor shared the story during Nostalgic Night With Macaulay, a screening tour commemorating the 35th anniversary of Home Alone.

"My name is Macaulay Macaulay Culkin Culkin," he told the audience.

Looking back on his antics, Culkin admitted, “I did it all for that one joke. And a bit on Fallon.”

Culkin refreshed the fans’ memory on the poll he shared during The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in 2019, where the decision for selecting a new middle name was put to a fan vote.

The poll was made available on the Hollywood actor’s website, BunnyEars.com, where fans submitted names including ‘Shark Week,’ ‘Kieran’ (his younger brother’s name), ‘TheMcRibIsBack,’ and ‘Publicity Stunt.’

In 2019, the 45-year-old actor announced on X that his middle name, Carson, would be changed based on the majority vote.

“Merry Christmas to me, from all of you! My new middle name has been chosen,” he said.

“You voted and the winner is clear. In 2019, my new legal name will be: Macaulay Macaulay Culkin Culkin. It has a nice ring to it (if you like my name),” he added.

The Home Alone screening tour, which began on Nov. 25, is ongoing and will conclude on Dec. 12.
