Vacations are the ultimate escape from the everyday—and sometimes, they deliver a beautiful surprise: a summer romance that can last for a lifetime or just a little while.

That's what the upcoming romance film People We Meet on Vacation is centered on. Based on the hit 2021 novel of the same name by Emily Henry, the film stars Tom Blyth and Emily Bader as Alex and Poppy, two unlikely friends living in different cities who have decided to spend every summer vacation together.

However, their once-platonic tradition starts to blur the lines between friendship and something deeper.

People We Meet on Vacation is slated for a Jan. 9, 2026 release, but if you can't wait that long, here are some movies and TV series that explore the intricacies of finding your one true love during a trip away from home.

The Map that Leads to You (2025)

The film follows Heather, a young woman on a post-graduation trip through Europe, where she meets and falls for Jack, a charming and spontaneous traveler with a mysterious side.

The film is directed by Lasse Hallström and stars Madelyn Cline and KJ Apa in the lead roles.

The Map that Leads to You is available on Prime Video.

To Russia with Love (2022)

One Day (2024)

One day can change everything, especially when it's the same day, every year.

That's what this series explores as it tells the decades-spanning story of Emma and Dexter, two very different people who share a deep connection after spending one night together on July 15th, 1988.

Each episode revisits them on the same date every year, showing how their lives, relationships, and feelings for each other evolve—sometimes growing closer, sometimes drifting apart.

The series is based on the novel by David Nicholls, and stars Ambika Mod and Leo Woodall.

One Day is available to stream on Netflix.
