It’s officially blooming season in the City of Pines!

Beyond its cool climate and scenic mountain views, Baguio City is celebrated for its month-long flower festival that highlights the beauty of local flora and the rich culture of its people.

Marking its 30th year, the Baguio Flower Festival Foundation, Inc. has lined up around 20 events scheduled from Jan. 30 to March 8.

At the launch, Mayor Benjamin Magalong described the festival as a living story of Baguio’s collective identity. More than a tourist attraction, it remains a platform for local artists and a symbol of community resilience. He emphasized that the celebration stands as a tribute to "continuity and hope—proof that even as time moves forward, our spirit continues to bloom without end."

While the festival has already been formally launched at City Hall grounds, here are the key events you won’t want to miss.

Golf tournament

Opening the 38-day Flower Festival is a two-day golf tournament on Jan. 30 and 31 called the Flower Tee Golf Tournament. It is set to draw golf enthusiasts from both local and national communities.

Opening parade

Things will kick off on the first day of February, as various schools compete in group dance performances in the grand opening parade. It will pass through Upper Session Road and through the city’s main roads until the Melvin Jones football grounds.

Baguio Marketplace

Baguio’s bustling commerce scene shines during Panagbenga, with the city serving as a hub for flower- and strawberry-themed handicrafts and food products. From Feb. 1 to March 8, the Baguio Market Encounter will host hundreds of exhibitors from across the country selling their unique finds, so festivalgoers are encouraged to bring both cash and e-money.

Adding to the charm, Session Road will become a pedestrian-friendly promenade from March 2 to 8, complete with sidewalk cafés and stalls offering floral-inspired items—ideal for strolls and hangouts.

Landscaping, dance, art, and music

Landscaping, one of the city’s major trades, will take center stage at the Panagbengascapes landscape exhibition and design challenge, where veteran landscapers will put their gardening skills to the test. The showcase will coincide with the opening parade and run until March 8.

Music lovers can look forward to a special treat on Feb.6 6 as Spotify’s Top Artist of 2025 and local hitmaker band Cup of Joe take the stage at the University of Baguio gym. The following day, Feb. 7, schools will compete in bouquet-making and dish garden contests.

Art enthusiasts can enjoy a traditional oil-painting competition and a colorful kite-flying challenge on Feb. 14, adding a creative flair to the festivities.

Cultural pride will shine on Feb. 15 with the Rhythm of the Highlands, where Cordillera groups showcase their rich heritage, followed by the Baguio Spring Festival Grand Parade on February 16.

For the dancers and performance enthusiasts, the Panagbenga Streetdance Parade will happen by the end of February, leading up to the grand floral parade on March 1.

The month-long festival will conclude on March 8 with the Little Ms. Panagbenga pageant and the Flower in the Sky fireworks display.

The annual Panagbenga, which means “a season of blooming” in Kankanaey, was established in 1995 to celebrate the tradition and culture of Baguio and the Cordilleras.
